Holy Domination! Bishop Hell sweeps High Stakes, shelves Proteus
WASHINGTON - Bishop Hell: GWF champion, commissioner, most powerful man in wrestling. Actagon: Humbled. Proteus: History. That's the reality in the federation after Hell single-handedly dominated last week's High Stakes pay-per-view main event, originally planned as a triple-fall, six-man tag match pitting Hell, Invincible Krakan and former commissioner Pete Carlossi against the three Greek Gods - Actagon, Proteus and Alpha Force. At stake in the first fall was Proteus' commissionership, with Hell's world title on the line in the second fall. The loser of the third fall would be banished from the GWF forever. The match structure changed, however, after Hell upset Actagon with a quick Flying Cross to win the first fall and the commissioner's seat. Immediately exercising his new authority, Hell ordered the second fall a singles match for the world title between himself and No. 1 contender Actagon. Repeated interference from Proteus and Alpha Force failed, and Hell retained his belt by scorching Actagon with a series of white-hot Hellfires in just under five minutes. Hell then demanded a third-fall showdown between himself and Proteus with the loser-leaves-GWF stipulation. With the other four wrestlers ejected to the dressing room, Hell overcame Proteus' ferocious power arsenal - and a surprise attack by a returning Amazonia - to put the fallen former commish out of the federation for good. None of the three falls lasted more than five minutes. Krakan, Carlossi and Alpha Force never stepped into the ring. Following the climactic finish, fans at Washington, D.C.'s MCI Center stood silent for several seconds before exploding in a riotous ovation that lasted nearly 20 minutes - more than three times longer than the main event itself. Krakan briefly returned to congratulate Hell in the ring, while a visibly disgruntled Carlossi immediately left the building with his entourage. Attempts to reach the remaining Greek Gods and Amazonia for comment have been unsuccessful. Hell's victories dramatically affect the GWF landscape, and particularly the world title picture, as he now has the power to book matches for his own belt, as well as the five other titles. It remains unclear what his immediate plans will be, but a company-wide address is expected on GWF programming within the next week to 10 days. Four new champions crowned at High Stakes!
